This notice is an update of the General Procurement Notice that was published in UN Development Business On-line on 28 July 2004 and the Print Edition Issue Number 636, dated 16 August 2004; and in dgMarket On-line on 27 July 2004.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has received a loan in the amount of US$ 220 million equivalent from the World Bank towards the cost of the Bam Earthquake Emergency Reconstruction Project, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds to payments for goods, works, related services and consulting services to be procured under this project.

The project consists of the following components:
• Component A: Provision of Equipment and Construction Material
• Component B: Repair of Transport Infrastructure
• Component C: Repair of Telecommunications Infrastructure
• Component D: Improved Preparedness in the city of Bam and Province of Kerman
• Component E: Project Management and Technical Assistance

Procurement of contracts financed by the World Bank will be conducted through the procedures as specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, current edition, and is open to all eligible bidders as defined in the guidelines. Consulting services will be selected in accordance with the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers, current edition.

Specific procurement notices for contracts to be bid under the World Bank’s international competitive bidding (ICB) procedures and for contracts for consultancy services will be announced, as they become available, in UN Development Business and dg Market and in local newspapers.
