GENERAL PROCUREMENT NOTICE
THE HASHEMITE KINGDOM OF JORDAN
EDUCATION REFORM FOR KNOWLEDGE ECONOMY I PROJECT (ERfKE)

World Bank Loan 7170-JO

The Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan has received a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) in the amount of US$120 million equivalent toward the cost of the Education Reform for Knowledge Economy I(ERfKE) project, and it intends to apply the proceeds of this loan to payments for goods, works, related services and consulting services to be procured under this project.
The ERfKE project includes the following four components:

Component 1: Reorientation of Education Policy Objectives and Strategy through Governance and Administrative Reform.
Component 2: Transformation of Education Programs and Practices to Achieve Learning Outcomes Relevant to the Knowledge Economy
Component 3: Provision of Quality Physical Learning Environments
Component 4: Promotion of Learning Readiness through Early Childhood Education

The World Bank Loan contributes to the ERfKE Project Components 1,2,3 and 4 to support the Government of Jordan to transform the education system at the early childhood, basic and secondary levels to produce graduates with skills necessary for the knowledge economy.
The Loan may be finance during the remaining period of project life the following purchases:

• Science lab equipment for Physics, Chemistry, Geology, Biology and sport equipment,
• Computers, Stabilizers, and projectors
• Consultancy services for monitoring and evaluation activities of ERfKE Project vested with the National Center for Human Resources Development(NCHRD), services for the implementation of the Campaign, services for the development of maintenance policy for MOE schools,

Procurement of contracts financed by the loan will be conducted through the procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, January 1995 (revised January and August 1996, September 1997, and January 1999), and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the guidelines. Consulting services will be selected in accordance with the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers, January 1997 (revised September 1997, January 1999 , and May 2002).

Specific procurement notices for contracts to be bid under the World Bank’s international competitive bidding (ICB) procedures and for large-value consultants’ contracts will be announced, as they become available, in UN Development Business and dgMarket , and in local newspapers.
