NAME OF PROJECT: Second Education Quality Improvement Project (EQUIP II)

GENERAL PROCUREMENT NOTICE
Project ID No: P106259


The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan intends to apply for financing from the IDA (World Bank) in the amount of US$30 Million toward the cost of the Second Education Quality Improvement Project and it intends to apply part of the proceeds to payments for goods, works, related services and consulting services to be procured under this project.

The project will include the following components:

1. Component 1: School Grants: (i) Sub Component 1.1 School Grants for Quality Enhancement; (ii) Sub Component 1.2 School Grants for Infrastructure; (iii) Sub Component 1.3: Social Mobilization and Awareness. There will be civil works and consultancy assignments under (i) and (iii) respectively.

2. Component 2: Teacher and Principal Training and Education: (i) Sub Component 2.1: Support to District Teacher Training Teams; (ii) Sub Component 2.3: Development of School Principals; (iii) Sub Component 2.4: Support to Increase Female Teachers. There will be large consultancy assignments civil works under all of the above sub components.

3. Component 3: Monitoring and Evaluation: (i) Sub Component 3.1: Project Management and Coordination; (ii) Sub Component 3.2: Monitoring. There will be consultancy assignments under this component.


Procurement of contracts financed by the World Bank will be conducted through the procedures as specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits May 2004 and revised October 2006, and is open to all eligible bidders as defined in the guidelines. Consulting services will be selected in accordance with the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers May 2004 and revised October 2006

Specific procurement notices for contracts to be bid under the World Bank’s international competitive bidding (ICB) procedures and for contracts for consultancy services will be announced, as they become available, in UN Development Business and DgMarket and local newspaper and magazines.

Interested eligible bidders who wish to be included on the mailing list to receive invitations to pre -qualify/bid under ICB procedures, and interested consultants who wish to receive a copy of advertisement requesting expressions of interest for consultancy contracts, or those requiring additional information, should contact the address below.
