"Provision of Miscellaneous Equipment for the Eleven New General Education Public Schools – LEBANON"

1. This Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this project that appeared in Development Business, first on 16 May 2000 (no 534), updated on 31 August 2004 (no 637). Online versions have been on dgmarket and UNDB websites since the 1st week of August, 2004.

2. The Republic of Lebanon represented by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education has received a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development toward the cost of the Education Development Project, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to payments under the contracts, resulting from this IFB.

3. The Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR)-Lebanon in charge of the procurement of goods, now invites sealed bids from eligible Bidders for the provision, distribution of Miscellaneous equipment comprising misc. equipment, Preschool classes equipment, gardening equipment, sports equipment, Drawing and Painting equipment and other related equipment fort the new Eleven (11) newly constructed General Education Schools. The Eleven GE schools are located in the North Lebanon (4 schools), Mount Lebanon (4 schools) and Bekaa Mohafazats (3 schools). The maximum total duration of each lot and the whole project in four (4) months and post-qualification will be used. The post-qualification criteria are detailed in the Bidding Documents.

4. Bidding will be conducted through the International Competitive Bidding procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, and is open to all Bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the Guidelines.

5. Interested eligible Bidders may obtain further information from the Council for Development and Reconstruction and inspect the Bidding Documents at the address given below from 9:00 to 13:00 hours (Beirut local time).

6. A complete set of bidding documents in English may be purchased by interested Bidders on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a non-refundable fee US$ (300.00) or equivalent in another free convertible currency. The method of payment will be by certified check.

7. Bids must be delivered to the address below at or before 12 P.M (Beirut local time) on Tuesday, January 29th 2008. All bids must be accompanied by a bid security of 15.000 US$ or equivalent amounts in a freely convertible currency. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of the Bidders’ representatives who choose to attend at the address below at 12 P.M (Beirut local time) Tuesday, January 29th 2008.
