PROCUREMENT OF HYDRAULICEXCAVATOR AND SURVEYING     EQUIPMENT

IFB  NO.  1/2008

1.         The Government of Guyana has received a grant from the Global Environment Facility         Special Climate Change Fund, which will be implemented by the International Bank for         Reconstruction and Development/International Development Associationtoward the cost   of the Conservancy Adaptation Project.   It intends toapply part of the proceeds of this   grant to payments under the Contract for the Procurementof a Hydraulic Excavator and      Surveying Equipment 

2.         The Ministry of Agriculture, Government of Guyana now invites sealedbidsfrom eligible      and qualified bidders for the procurement of a long reach hydraulicexcavator and      surveying equipment.

3.         Bidding will be conducted through the International Competitive Bidding(ICB) procedures specified in the World Bank's Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA          Credits, and is open to all bidders from Eligible Source Countries as defined in the Guidelines.

4.         Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from Dr.Elizabeth Ramlal,             Director, Agriculture Sector Development Unit, (e-mail addressasdumoa@yahoo.com) and inspect the Bidding Documents at the address given below from Monday,September     15, 2008, during normal working hours: 08:30 hours to 16:00 hours onMondays to            Thursdays and from 08:30 hours to 15:00 hours on Fridays.

5.         Qualifications requirements include technical, financial, legal and other requirements. A         margin ofpreference for certain goods manufactured domestically shall not be applied.          Additional details are provided in the Bidding Documents.

6.         A complete set of Bidding Documents (hard copy) in English may bepurchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon   payment of a non-refundable fee of G$4000 for documents uplifted at our office or US$75   for documents to be posted overseas.  The method of payment will be by cheque payable to   thePermanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture or by cash. Upon request, the Bidding      Documents (in pdf format) may be sent by e-mail free of cost to the prospective bidder.

7.         Bids must be delivered to the address below at or before 09:00 hourson Tuesday,             November 4, 2008. Electronic bidding will not be permitted. Late bids will be rejected.              Bids will be opened in the presence of thebidders' representatives who choose to       attend in person at        the address below at 09:00 hours on Tuesday, November 4, 2008.   All    bids must be accompanied by a BidSecurity of at least 2% of the contract price             denominated in the requestedcurrency of payment or an equivalent amount in a       freely convertiblecurrency.
